Agartala: Nov 29: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has issued a stern warning regarding the possibility of halting trade with Bangladesh in the future. Speaking to the media on Friday in response to a question, the Chief Minister expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, particularly the reported atrocities against religious minorities. He stated that the inhuman treatment of minorities, especially Hindus, is unacceptable and called for the protection of these communities.
Dr. Saha further emphasized that since the interim government took power in Bangladesh, he has been in regular communication with the Indian government in New Delhi regarding the situation. He expressed concerns over the safety and security of religious minorities in Bangladesh and stressed that their rights must be safeguarded.
The Chief Minister also instructed the state’s security forces to remain vigilant and ensure that Bangladeshis do not infiltrate into Tripura through the border areas. He highlighted the importance of border security to prevent any illegal crossings that could further complicate the situation.
When asked about the possibility of suspending trade with Bangladesh, Dr. Saha clarified that no decision had been made on this matter yet. However, he warned that if the situation continues to worsen, the state government may consider taking such a step in the future. The Chief Minister’s comments reflect the growing tension in the region due to the unrest in Bangladesh, with the state government closely monitoring developments and preparing for potential responses to protect the interests and security of Tripura.
