Agratala: Jan 02: The 43rd Agartala Book Fair was inaugurated at the Hapaniya International Mela Ground on Thursday and will continue until January 14th. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the fair by lighting the lamp, accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Ramprasad Pal, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, Minister Santana Chakma, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, and other dignitaries.

In his address at the inaugural ceremony, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highlighted that the dates of the book fair were chosen with students in mind. He noted the decline in book purchases and encouraged people to gift books on social occasions, benefiting both booksellers and authors. He emphasized that books broaden human consciousness and described the book fair as a festival of mind and intellect, underscoring the irreplaceable value of books as sources of knowledge.

Dr. Saha also appealed to parents to encourage the younger generation to read books. Minister Santana Chakma and other guests echoed the importance of the book fair and the role of books in society. Following the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister inaugurated several stalls by cutting the ribbon and visited various book stalls. The event saw a notable presence of book lovers and the general public. The 43rd Agartala Book Fair will continue until January 14th.
