Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday visited the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur to inspect the renovation works, which are nearing completion. The historic temple, one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas, is being developed under the Government of India’s PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive) scheme.

The renovation project is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this month. In preparation, senior police officials conducted a security review of the temple premises at Matabari on Saturday.

Accompanied by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Matabari MLA Abhishek Deb Roy, and senior government officials, the Chief Minister closely examined various sections of the temple complex. He stressed the importance of enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the site through increased plantation of flowering plants and greenery.

Speaking to the media during his visit, Dr Saha stated, “The exact date of the Prime Minister’s visit is yet to be confirmed. However, we are ensuring that all preparations are in place. Let’s see when he finds the time to visit.”

Officials confirmed that around 80 per cent of the temple development work has already been completed, with final touches currently underway. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to enhance the spiritual and tourism appeal of the site, drawing pilgrims and tourists from across the country.

The Chief Minister’s visit comes at a critical juncture, as the state awaits confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the date of the formal inauguration. The development of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple under the PRASAD scheme marks a significant step in preserving the cultural heritage of Tripura while boosting religious tourism in the region.
