A large-scale health camp-cum-anti-drug awareness programme was successfully organised on Sunday at Khumpui Academy in Twichakma, under Dumakari Village Committee of Hezamara block. The initiative was jointly undertaken by the Tipra Engineers’ Society of Tripura (TEST) and ONGC, witnessing a strong turnout from local villagers.

The camp provided a range of free medical services, including blood tests, sugar and blood pressure checks, malaria and HIV screenings. A team of specialist doctors, pharmacists, and laboratory technicians ensured smooth delivery of these services. As per the medical officer’s report, no cases of malaria or HIV were found, indicating positive health indicators in the region.

In total, 230 patients received free medicines, while 500 mosquito nets were distributed to underprivileged families as part of the preventive health initiative. Villagers expressed appreciation for both the quality of the healthcare services and the utility of the mosquito nets, highlighting the event as a significant support for the community.

TEST secretary Jiban Debbarma supervised the programme, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of medical services and medicine distribution. The event also saw the presence of TEST president Amulya Jamatia, ONGC Employees Union general secretary Birchandra Debbarma, and several other dignitaries.

Beyond healthcare, the programme aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse, especially among the youth. Through this dual-purpose initiative, TEST and ONGC aimed to improve community health and promote a drug-free lifestyle.

Local residents welcomed the initiative, describing it as a vital outreach for poor and marginalised families in the region. The collaborative effort received wide praise for addressing both immediate medical needs and long-term health awareness.
