Agartala, August 7:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday approved a series of developmental projects aimed at enhancing civic amenities, improving road infrastructure, and strengthening public health across the state. The projects, amounting to over ₹87 crore, reflect the government’s push for inclusive growth and better governance.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, projects worth ₹32.33 crore have been sanctioned under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). These include construction and improvement of RCC cover drains and internal roads in multiple wards of the capital city, aiming to improve sanitation, water drainage, and urban mobility.

In a major boost to rural connectivity, the Chief Minister also sanctioned maintenance works for 27 roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme. The project, worth ₹55.16 crore, covers a total road length of 129.5 kilometers across 12 sub-divisions: Sonamura, Bishalgarh, Teliamura, Mohanpur, Udaipur, Amarpur, Sabroom, Belonia, Ambassa, Kamalpur, Kanchanpur, and Kailashahar.

“These initiatives reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to better living standards and efficient governance,” the press release stated.

Officials said the projects would not only enhance basic civic infrastructure but also create jobs and facilitate economic activity in both urban and rural areas. Improved road connectivity is expected to benefit farmers, traders, and school-going children, particularly in remote and interior locations.

With these latest approvals, the state government continues to prioritize development-led governance, focusing on infrastructure expansion and public service delivery. Work on the sanctioned projects is expected to commence shortly under the supervision of the Public Works Department and concerned urban local bodies.
