Agartala, Aug 19 – Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command, called on Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu at Raj Bhavan on Monday evening.

During the meeting, the Eastern Command chief briefed the Governor on various security-related matters, particularly the overall situation along the Indo-Bangladesh international border and the operational preparedness of the Army in the region. He also highlighted the Army’s initiatives in supporting civil administration, including disaster management, medical outreach, and welfare programmes in remote and border areas of the Northeast.

Governor Nallu appreciated the role of the Indian Army in maintaining peace and stability in the region and acknowledged its contribution to humanitarian activities, especially during natural calamities and community development programmes. He also expressed confidence that the Army’s continued cooperation with civil authorities would further strengthen security and developmental efforts in Tripura.

The interaction covered issues related to border management, counter-insurgency operations, and coordination between security agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining strong civil-military relations to address emerging challenges in the Northeast.

Lt. Gen. Tiwari, who assumed charge as the GOC-in-C of the Eastern Command earlier this year, is on a visit to review security arrangements in the northeastern states, including Tripura. His call on the Governor was part of his itinerary to assess ground realities and interact with key stakeholders in the state.

The visit underscores the Army’s commitment to safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation while simultaneously extending support to civil governance in fostering peace and development in the region.
