Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be brought from Madhya Pradesh for conducting the forthcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), scheduled to be held later this year, officials said on Friday.

As part of advance preparations, senior officials from the State Election Commission, Madhya Pradesh, visited Sepahijala district on Friday to review the proposed warehouse facilities for the storage of EVMs to be used in the TTAADC polls. The visit aimed at ensuring that all logistical, security and infrastructural requirements are in place well ahead of the elections.

Deputy Secretary Sanju Kumari and Under Secretary Priyanshi Bhanwar inspected several identified locations earmarked as district warehouses. According to a social media post issued by the Sepahijala District Administration, the officials assessed the overall infrastructure, security arrangements and suitability of the facilities for the safe custody of EVMs.

During the inspection, special emphasis was laid on access control mechanisms, security protocols, surveillance arrangements and tamper-proof storage measures to ensure that the EVMs remain fully secure at all times. The officials also evaluated the logistical preparedness of the district administration to handle the machines efficiently.

In addition, detailed discussions were held with district authorities regarding the transportation of EVMs from Madhya Pradesh to Tripura. The deliberations focused on inter-state coordination, safety measures, route planning and timely movement of the equipment to ensure smooth and hassle-free conduct of the elections.

The inspection and review exercise was conducted in the presence of District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala, Dr. Siddhartha Shiv Jaiswal, along with the Additional District Magistrate and other senior officials.

Officials said the visit was part of a broader preparatory process to ensure strict compliance with election guidelines and to facilitate seamless electoral operations. Further decisions regarding logistics, storage and coordination between the two states will be finalised in consultation with the concerned authorities.

It may be noted that the TTAADC elections are scheduled to be held in April this year, and political activities and campaigning around the polls have already begun gaining momentum across the state.
