Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu inaugurated the State-Level Awareness Workshop on “Nasha Mukt Tripura” at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College Auditorium in Agartala on Saturday morning, reaffirming the state’s commitment to building a drug-free and healthy society. The workshop brought together government officials, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, healthcare professionals, social organizations, students, and youth representatives to discuss effective strategies for preventing drug abuse and promoting awareness across Tripura.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu emphasized that substance abuse poses a serious threat to society, particularly to the younger generation, and called for a united effort involving government agencies, educational institutions, families, and community organizations to combat the growing menace. He stressed that awareness, education, and timely intervention are the most effective tools in preventing addiction and ensuring a brighter future for the state’s youth.

The Governor highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment where young people are encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices and stay away from narcotic substances. He urged educational institutions to organize regular awareness campaigns, counselling sessions, and community outreach programmes to educate students about the harmful consequences of drug abuse.

The workshop focused on the objectives of the “Nasha Mukt Tripura” campaign, which aims to strengthen preventive measures, promote rehabilitation of affected individuals, and encourage active participation from all sections of society in eliminating drug abuse. Experts and resource persons shared valuable insights on identifying early signs of addiction, the role of families in prevention, and the need for coordinated action among various stakeholders.

Participants also discussed the importance of community-based initiatives, youth engagement, and strengthening enforcement against illegal drug trafficking. The programme underscored that a sustained awareness campaign, combined with effective rehabilitation services and strict law enforcement, is essential to achieving the vision of a drug-free Tripura.

The State-Level Awareness Workshop concluded with a collective pledge by participants to support the “Nasha Mukt Tripura” mission and work together to spread awareness against substance abuse. The event marked another significant step in the state’s ongoing efforts to protect its youth and build a healthier, safer, and more prosperous Tripura through coordinated action and public participation.
