Agartala, July 21: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to Late Shri Anurag, former Director General of Police (DGP), Tripura, at a solemn ceremony held at the State Civil Secretariat in Agartala.

The Governor offered floral tributes to the mortal remains of the late police chief, remembering his distinguished service to the state and his unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Senior government officials, police personnel, and members of the civil administration also gathered at the Secretariat to pay their last respects to the former DGP. The ceremony was marked by a dignified atmosphere, with officers and staff observing silence as a mark of respect for the veteran police officer.

Late Shri Anurag served as the Director General of Police of Tripura during a significant period in the state’s policing history. Throughout his career, he was widely respected for his professionalism, leadership, and dedication to public service. His contributions towards strengthening the police force, improving security, and promoting efficient law enforcement earned him admiration from colleagues and the public alike.

Following the tribute ceremony, several senior police officers recalled his leadership qualities and commitment to duty, describing him as an officer who always placed the interests of the people and the state above all else. Many remembered him as a mentor who inspired younger officers through his integrity, discipline, and administrative acumen.

The passing of the former DGP has been widely mourned across official circles, with condolences pouring in from political leaders, retired civil servants, serving police officers, and members of the public. His demise marks the loss of a respected administrator whose years of service left a lasting impact on Tripura’s policing system.

The state government and police department have expressed profound grief over his passing and extended their sympathies to his family. The tribute at the State Civil Secretariat reflected the respect and gratitude the state holds for Late Shri Anurag’s dedicated service, honouring a life devoted to safeguarding public security and strengthening law enforcement in Tripura.
