Agartala, May 13:A sudden gunfire incident late Monday night in Jaykrishna Para, under Radhapur police station in Tripura’s State ADC Headquarters, Khumulwng, left two individuals injured, raising serious concerns about local security.

The injured have been identified as Bidhu Debbarma and Hari Kumar Debbarma, both residents of the area. They were initially rushed to Khumulwng Hospital for immediate medical attention. However, as their conditions deteriorated, they were quickly referred to Agartala’s GB Hospital for advanced treatment.

Following the incident, Kamal Krishna Kaloi, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jirania Sub-division, reached the scene promptly to assess the situation firsthand. Speaking to the media, Kaloi stated, “We have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the gunfire.”

While the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, police have assured that a thorough probe is underway and that strict action will be taken once the culprits are identified. Authorities are also questioning locals and gathering eyewitness accounts to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

The unexpected outbreak of violence has left residents in a state of fear and shock, prompting fresh concerns over law and order in the area. The police presence in the locality has since been increased, and patrolling intensified to prevent any further untoward incidents.

Law enforcement officials have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation. They have also appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

As the investigation continues, the community awaits clarity and justice, hoping for swift action against those responsible for the violent episode.
