Agartala: Dec 20: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is visiting Tripura to chair the 72nd Plenary of the North Eastern Council, will also launch and inaugurate at least eight key projects of the Tripura Cooperative Department on December 22. This announcement was made by the state’s Cooperative Minister, Sukla Charan Noatia, during a press conference held on Friday evening at the civil secretariat in Agartala.
Minister Noatia highlighted that the United Nations has declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, and as part of this global initiative, Tripura will host the Cooperative Conference, 2024, at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on December 22. The conference will be graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will be the chief guest at the event.
During his visit, Minister Shah will not only launch significant projects but will also focus on strengthening the cooperative sector in the state, which plays a crucial role in the economic and social development of Tripura. The eight projects to be inaugurated are aimed at promoting the cooperative movement, improving rural development, and enhancing the living standards of local communities.
In addition to these projects, the conference will also feature participation from cooperative leaders, government officials, and representatives from various sectors, including agriculture and banking. The event will provide a platform for showcasing the achievements of the cooperative sector and discussing new initiatives for further growth and sustainability.
Minister Noatia also mentioned that various activities, such as the signing of memoranda of understanding and the launching of key initiatives, will be part of the conference’s agenda. The event is expected to draw significant attention to the role of cooperatives in Tripura’s development.
