Agartala, Oct 10: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Opposition, accusing the CPI-M and Trinamool Congress (TMC) of being “disconnected from the people” and “living in a delusion of victory from social media posts.”

Speaking to the media, Saha said the Opposition parties have lost touch with the ground reality. “Sitting in their homes, they (CPI-M and TMC) are only active on social media and imagining that they have won Tripura,” he remarked.

His comments came a day after a six-member TMC delegation from West Bengal visited Agartala and lodged an FIR following the alleged vandalism of their state headquarters by BJP supporters.

Taking a swipe at the visiting team, Saha said, “A few TMC leaders came from Kolkata along with a tribal woman leader, hoping that if something happened to her, they could use it politically to counter the attack on our MP Khagen Murmu. This exposes their mentality.”

The Chief Minister claimed that the situation was handled “with maturity and precision,” thwarting the TMC’s “political theatrics.” He alleged the party came only to provoke unrest, but their attempts “failed miserably.”

Saha admitted that some chaos occurred outside the Trinamool Congress headquarters but dismissed claims of a planned attack. “It was a spontaneous outburst of anger after the attack on our MP and MLA in North Bengal. Police acted promptly to disperse the protesters,” he said.

He also predicted that the TMC will not remain in power in West Bengal for long, adding that the BJP’s strength “lies among the people, not on social media.”

Meanwhile, the visiting TMC leaders met Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and DGP Anurag, demanding security and action against those responsible for the alleged vandalism.
