Agartala: April 19: In a bold step to boost tourism and improve connectivity, the Transport and Tourism Departments of Tripura have come together to introduce Seaplane Tourism in the state. This innovative initiative aims to revolutionize the travel experience for both domestic and international tourists by offering a modern and efficient mode of transportation to key water-based destinations.
State Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday at the Secretariat, described the move as a game-changer for Tripura’s tourism landscape. The meeting, held via video conferencing with representatives of a private airline, focused on the operational aspects of launching the seaplane service in the state.
The proposed service will connect major aquatic tourist spots such as Narikel Kunja and Chabimura, offering travellers a unique and unforgettable experience. Utilizing specialized aircraft capable of taking off and landing on water, seaplane tourism will significantly reduce travel time to remote and scenic destinations, making them more accessible and attractive to visitors.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized that this venture not only enhances the travel experience but also holds immense potential to stimulate the local economy, create employment, and promote sustainable development. “It sets the stage for a brighter future, where tourism not only thrives but also contributes meaningfully to the state’s overall progress,” he said.
He further added that the initiative showcases Tripura’s commitment to blending modernity with its rich natural heritage. The seaplane project reflects a forward-thinking approach to tourism development, leveraging the state’s abundant natural water resources to foster long-term economic growth.
With its potential to attract tourists and investors alike, the seaplane service is expected to redefine Tripura as a hub for innovative and sustainable tourism in the North East.
