Agartala: Dec 11: On Wednesday morning, Sushanta Deb, the MLA of Bishalgarh Assembly Constituency, conducted an inspection at the Purathal Rajnagar Sub-Health Center, following allegations that the health worker in charge had not been opening the center on time. The center was supposed to open at 8 AM, but it had not been opened at the designated time, raising concerns among the local residents.
Acting on these complaints, MLA Sushanta Deb arrived at the health center at 8 AM to investigate the situation. He stood in front of the Sub-Health Center for an hour, from 8 AM to 9 AM, but could not find the health worker responsible for opening the center. After waiting for an extended period without any response, Deb informed higher officials in the health department about the situation and demanded immediate action.
Sushanta Deb expressed frustration over the lack of accountability, noting that such incidents tarnish the reputation of both the government and the concerned departments. He emphasized that the public is increasingly dissatisfied with the behavior of certain employees who, despite receiving significant salaries, fail to fulfill their duties. He also pointed out that the relevant officials were busy attending various events instead of focusing on their core responsibilities, further contributing to inefficiency within the system.
Deb warned that if this continued, the government would bear the brunt of the public’s frustration. He called for the responsible officials to be held accountable and urged that they stop merely giving long speeches and actually focus on fulfilling their duties to the public. This inspection highlighted a systemic issue that, according to Deb, needs urgent attention to ensure that public services function effectively and efficiently.
