Agartala, December 1 — The Foundation Day of Nagaland was celebrated with dignity and cultural vibrancy at Lok Bhavan, Agartala, where Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu formally inaugurated the event in the evening. The celebration marked Nagaland’s statehood day, honouring its rich cultural heritage, history, and contributions to the nation.

The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Governor, symbolising unity and harmony among the diverse communities of the Northeast. Senior officials, dignitaries, members of the Naga community residing in Tripura, and invited guests were present to witness the occasion.

In his inaugural address, Governor Nallu extended warm greetings to the people of Nagaland, recalling the state’s journey since its formation and acknowledging its unique cultural identity. He highlighted the importance of preserving traditional customs, languages, and values while embracing the opportunities created through modern development.

The Governor praised the resilience and spirit of the Naga people, noting that their contributions in the fields of art, music, literature, and sports have enriched the cultural fabric of India. He also emphasized the significance of strengthening inter-state harmony within the Northeast, reaffirming that cultural exchanges and celebrations like these help deepen mutual understanding among the region’s states.

The event showcased traditional Naga music, dance performances, and exhibitions reflecting the state’s tribal heritage. Participants highlighted the importance of celebrating Nagaland’s Foundation Day outside the state, especially in Tripura, as it encourages cross-cultural appreciation and unity.

Officials from the Tripura government also conveyed their greetings, expressing their commitment to fostering stronger cultural ties between Tripura and Nagaland.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed call for cooperation, peace, and cultural preservation. The celebration at Lok Bhavan served as a reminder of the Northeast’s rich diversity and the enduring spirit of unity that binds its people together.
