Agartala, December 1 — Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday chaired a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat to assess the progress of the under-construction Water Park at Sachindranagar Colony in Jirania, along with several other key tourism development projects currently underway across Tripura.

The meeting, held in the conference hall of the Minister’s office, was attended by the Tourism Secretary, Director, engineers, and senior officials of the department. Detailed presentations were made on the status of ongoing projects, highlighting work completed so far, bottlenecks being faced, and steps required to accelerate implementation.

A major focus of the discussion was the Water Park project in Jirania, which is expected to become a major recreational attraction once operational. Officials provided updates on civil construction, infrastructure development, and the installation of water-based amusement facilities. Minister Chowdhury instructed the team to closely monitor progress and ensure that all components of the project meet modern tourism standards.

He stressed that the state government is prioritizing the expansion and modernization of tourism infrastructure to boost footfall, generate employment, and position Tripura as an attractive destination in the Northeast. “Tourism has immense potential in Tripura, and these projects are crucial to unlocking that potential,” he said.

Reiterating the need for efficiency and accountability, Minister Chowdhury directed officials to strictly adhere to deadlines and maintain transparency in project execution. “All projects must be completed within the stipulated time frame, without compromising on quality,” he firmly stated.

The Minister also reviewed other tourism-related initiatives, including improvements to heritage sites, development of eco-tourism facilities, and creation of better amenities for visitors. He encouraged inter-departmental coordination to overcome challenges and ensure smooth project execution.

The meeting concluded with instructions to submit periodic progress reports and undertake field inspections, reinforcing the government’s commitment to delivering world-class tourism infrastructure for the state.
