Agartala, Nov 4 : A fresh batch of 70 rural youths from Tripura has begun skill development training under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0, an initiative aimed at enhancing employability and connecting rural job seekers with opportunities in the organised sector.
The training programme was formally inaugurated through a Batch Freezing Ceremony at the training centre of CLR Facilities Pvt Ltd in Khayerpur, Agartala.
The 70 participants, drawn from different parts of the state, have been enrolled in two batches of the Retail Sales Associate course, which will be conducted over 90 days.
The programme is designed to equip rural youth with industry-oriented skills and prepare them for employment in organised retail and other service-based sectors.
Under the residential training model, participants will be provided free accommodation, meals, study materials, uniforms and tablets, along with other educational support. Separate hostel facilities have also been arranged for male and female trainees.
Officials said the initiative aims to provide more than classroom training by creating pathways to sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities.
Upon successful completion of the course, trainees will be eligible for placement opportunities in organised retail outlets, shopping malls, airports and other customer service-oriented establishments across the country.
The programme was attended by Tarit Kanti Chakma, Chief Executive Officer of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Chief Operating Officer (Skills), along with the state head of CLR Facilities Pvt Ltd.
During the ceremony, the newly enrolled trainees were distributed books, uniforms, tablets and other learning materials required for the training.
Participants from different districts expressed enthusiasm about the programme, saying it would provide them with an opportunity to acquire professional skills and explore employment opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings.
Officials said DDU-GKY 2.0 focuses on bridging the gap between rural youth and industry requirements through market-oriented training and skill development.
The initiative seeks to improve access to organised-sector employment, promote economic self-reliance and enable rural youngsters to secure stable wage-based livelihoods.
The latest batch marks another step in Tripura's efforts to expand skill development opportunities and improve employment prospects for young people from rural areas.
