Agartala, Nov 3 : Traditional folk dances of Tripura's Mog community were showcased at the Lokrang Mahotsav 2026 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where artists of the Sangrain Dance Academy presented vibrant performances of Sangrain and WA dances, organisers said.

The two-day cultural festival, held on November 2 and 3, provided a national platform for the Tripura-based troupe to highlight the distinctive traditions, folk expressions and artistic heritage of the Mog community.

The performers presented the traditional dance forms through colourful choreography, ethnic costumes and intricate movements, offering audiences an insight into the cultural practices of one of Tripura's indigenous communities.

The cultural contingent was led by Raju Mog, a recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, who guided the artists in representing the state's cultural diversity at the event.

The performances highlighted the community's customs, traditional art forms and cultural identity, drawing attention to Tripura's diverse indigenous heritage.

The participation also reflected efforts by the academy to preserve and promote traditional performing arts, particularly among younger generations, at a time when several indigenous art forms face challenges in sustaining their presence.

Through the presentations, the artists sought to familiarise audiences from different parts of the country with the Mog community's folk traditions and their significance in the state's cultural landscape.

Cultural events such as Lokrang Mahotsav provide opportunities for folk artists to interact with performers from other regions and showcase their traditional art forms on a wider platform.

The academy's participation also underlined the role of cultural institutions and artists in documenting and passing on traditional dance forms to future generations.

The performances in Jaipur brought national attention to the folk traditions of Tripura's Mog community and highlighted the state's rich ethnic and cultural diversity.

The Sangrain Dance Academy's presentation was part of the broader effort to promote indigenous cultural expressions and strengthen recognition of traditional performing arts beyond their regions of origin.
