New Delhi, Sep 8: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out extensive searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in connection with an ongoing terror conspiracy case, officials confirmed.

According to officials, searches were conducted at eight locations in Bihar, one each in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, two in Uttar Pradesh, and nine in J&K. In the Union Territory, raids were carried out in Budgam, Kulgam, Pattan, Pulwama, and Kangan.

The agency is probing multiple high-profile terror cases, including those related to terror financing, overground workers, and civilian killings. Among the key cases under investigation is the June 9, 2024, Reasi attack, in which terrorists killed nine pilgrims and injured several others. The probe into this incident was handed over to the NIA after allegations that some locals had provided shelter to the attackers.

Another major case under investigation is the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack at Baisaran meadow, where 26 people lost their lives. On July 28, 2025, three Pakistani terrorists—Suleman, Jibran, and Hamza Afghani—linked to the Pahalgam attack were killed during “Operation Mahadev” in the Dachigam National Park area of Srinagar. Their identities were confirmed through photographs recovered from a seized mobile phone during a 2024 encounter in south Kashmir.

Monday’s action follows a large-scale operation on June 5, 2025, when the NIA raided 32 locations in J&K, targeting overground workers of various terror outfits. Several suspects were detained, and digital devices and incriminating documents were recovered.

Officials stated that the latest raids are part of efforts to dismantle terror networks by identifying operatives, tracing funding channels, and seizing evidence. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security forces.
