Agartala, September 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Tripura on September 22, marking his 11th visit to the state since taking office in 2014. This visit holds special significance as it coincides with the first day of the auspicious Navratri festival and will witness the formal inauguration of the redeveloped Mata Tripura Sundari temple premises in Udaipur.

PM Modi’s first visit to Tripura was on December 1, 2014, when he inaugurated Unit-II of the Palatana Power Plant. He returned to the state twice in February 2018—on the 8th and 15th—for election rallies. Following the BJP’s electoral victory, he visited again on March 9, 2018, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Tripura’s first BJP-led government.

Subsequent visits included:

  • February 9, 2019
  • January 4, 2022
  • February 11 and 13, 2023
  • March 8, 2023
  • April 17, 2024

The upcoming visit will be his second to the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, a deeply revered site for devotees. At the invitation of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the redeveloped temple complex—a key cultural and spiritual project completed ahead of Navratri.

The Prime Minister’s visits to Tripura have consistently drawn large and enthusiastic crowds, cutting across communities and age groups. This time too, anticipation is high as people prepare to welcome him with great warmth and devotion. The state administration is actively coordinating arrangements to ensure a smooth and memorable visit.

The event is seen not only as a celebration of spiritual heritage but also as a reaffirmation of the Centre’s continued focus on Tripura’s development and cultural preservation.
