Agartala: August 14: Mohanpur witnessed a grand display of patriotism on Thursday as State Power, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath led a massive Tiranga Yatra to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. The rally began from the premises of Mohanpur Kamakhya Mandir and passed through Kalagachia, Bijaynagar, Tarapur Chowmuhani, Manipuri Chowmuhani, Cinema Hall route, and Dighalia, before culminating at Tulabagan Colony football ground.
Over 2,000 youths participated in the rally, riding motorbikes adorned with the national flag, creating a striking visual of unity and national pride. The event drew enthusiastic crowds along the route, with residents cheering and waving the tricolour.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Nath recalled that in 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced August 14 as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. “The youths must know who was responsible for the division of our country and whose interests were served. We must stand united to ensure our nation remains indivisible. That is the purpose of organising this bike rally,” he said.
Highlighting the significance of the day, the Minister said, “Many mothers present here had to leave their ancestral homes during those tragic times. We must remain vigilant, as there are still forces seeking to divide our nation. We never want to witness those horrible days again. The youth must be united and determined.”
Describing the event as unprecedented, Nath added, “This will be a historic bike rally. I am not sure whether such a rally has ever been organised in the state before.”
The Minister also stressed that the rally served as both a tribute to the victims of Partition and a reminder to future generations about the importance of unity and patriotism in safeguarding the nation’s integrity.
