Agartala, Oct 15 — Tripura’s Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma on Wednesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to achieving self-reliance through robust skill development initiatives aimed at empowering the youth.

Speaking at the felicitation ceremony for the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) and Tripura State Topper (AITT) 2025 at the Women’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Indranagar, the minister honoured top-performing students from various vocational and technical training programmes. She lauded their achievements and underscored the transformative role of skill-based education in fostering economic independence.

“The government’s focus is on empowering young men and women through skill development to make Tripura self-reliant. These students have truly earned this recognition and will play an important role in building a self-reliant Tripura,” Chakma said.

She noted that the awardees had undergone intensive training over the past two years, demonstrating hard work, discipline, and determination. Their success, she said, would inspire future batches of trainees to pursue excellence and contribute meaningfully to society.

Chakma further highlighted that the primary goal of such recognition programmes is to encourage students to achieve their full potential and bring pride to both their families and the state. “Our youth are the driving force behind Tripura’s growth. By equipping them with the right skills, we are ensuring sustainable progress and reducing dependency,” she added.

Referring to the national agenda, the minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India has prioritized skill development as a cornerstone of the vision for a self-reliant nation. She reiterated that Tripura is aligning its initiatives with this vision to create more employment opportunities and nurture a skilled workforce capable of driving industrial and entrepreneurial growth in the state.
