Agartala: Dec 13: Six individuals have been arrested with heroin from Howrah Market in Battala, the capital city. According to the incident report, the arrested individuals had been involved in the consumption and sale of heroin in the area for a long time. Acting on a tip-off, the police formed a special team and apprehended four young men on Thursday.
Following their interrogation, two women were also arrested. The names of the arrested individuals are Ram Das, Abinash Debnath, Animesh Ghosh, Sanju Debbarma, Pinky Das, and Puja Ghosh. Their residences are in Mohanpur, Amtali, and Arundhati Nagar areas. The narcotic substances seized from them have an estimated market value of over ₹1.5 lakh, according to the Sub-Divisional Police Officer.
These individuals had created an atmosphere of terror in the locality, with several criminal activities, including theft and snatching, being reported in the area. After evening, residents of Battala felt unsafe due to the rising crime rate. The police, upon realizing the gravity of the situation, took swift action and managed to arrest the accused. However, it has been reported that several others are still at large, having escaped after sensing the police’s operation. The authorities are continuing their investigation and are determined to apprehend the remaining suspects.
