Agartala: August 25: A group of unemployed youth who appeared for the Selection Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) 2022 once again staged a protest in front of the Education Department office in Agartala, demanding the immediate publication of their results and completion of the long-pending recruitment process. The exam was conducted in September 2022, but nearly two years later, candidates continue to wait in uncertainty.

“It’s been almost four years of struggle. Despite repeated appeals to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, and senior officials, nothing has progressed,” said one frustrated aspirant, highlighting the growing discontent among candidates who feel ignored by the authorities.

The protesters raised serious concerns about crossing the upper age limit for government jobs, pointing out that the prolonged delay could permanently disqualify many of them from future opportunities. “We prepared with dedication and cleared the hurdles, but now our future is at stake due to bureaucratic inaction,” another candidate said.

Adding to their frustration is the state government’s recent announcement of a plan to recruit nearly 700 new teachers through fresh notifications. The aspirants questioned the logic of opening new recruitment cycles when the previous process has not yet been concluded. They alleged that this reflects a lack of accountability and transparency in the handling of teacher recruitment.

The demonstrators appealed directly to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to intervene and ensure that the Education Department releases the results without further delay. They also warned that their patience is running out, and prolonged neglect could push them toward intensified agitation.

For the candidates, the issue is not just about jobs but about justice, fairness, and the right to a secure future that has already been kept in limbo for too long.
