Agartala:, June 19:In the lead-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, a series of wellness and community-focused programs have been launched in Teliamura through a joint initiative by the Sub-Divisional Youth Affairs & Sports Department, Teliamura Municipal Council, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, and the RD Block.

As part of the pre-Yoga Day activities, a voluntary blood donation camp was held on Thursday at Chitrangada Kala Kendra (Town Hall) in Teliamura. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public and was attended by several dignitaries, including Teliamura Municipal Council Chairman Rupak Sarkar, Vice Chairman Madhusudan Roy, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Parimal Majumdar, Sub-Divisional Youth Program Officer Dharani Das, and Cultural Affairs Officer Mithun Dutta, among others.

During the event, speakers highlighted the global significance of International Yoga Day and spoke extensively about the health benefits of yoga. They emphasized yoga’s role in improving both physical and mental well-being and noted that the practice has earned worldwide recognition for promoting a balanced lifestyle.

A total of 31 individuals came forward to donate blood, reflecting the strong community spirit and commitment to public health in the region.

In addition to the blood donation drive, several other activities have been planned in Teliamura to mark the Yoga Day celebration. These include a market cleanliness drive scheduled for June 20, and a yoga demonstration session to be held at Ram Thakur Seva Mandir on June 21.

These initiatives aim to foster awareness about hygiene, healthy living, and the importance of yoga as a tool for holistic wellness. The community’s active participation underscores Teliamura’s dedication to promoting health and social responsibility.
