Agartala: Mar 12: The budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to begin on March 21 and will run for seven days, concluding on April 1. This decision was made unanimously in a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held today, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The extended duration of the session marks a significant shift from previous years. Notably, no budget session in the past 15 years under the previous government had lasted for seven days, making this a historic move under the BJP-led administration.

The BJP government has emphasized the importance of thorough discussions on the budget, believing that more time dedicated to debates and deliberations will lead to better outcomes for all. This extended session is seen as a commitment to transparency and inclusivity in the budget process.

On the first day of the session, additional expenditure allocations will be presented, followed by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy delivering the full budget. The government’s approach aims to ensure a comprehensive discussion on financial matters, with a focus on detailed scrutiny of the proposed allocations.

With this move, the Tripura Legislative Assembly seeks to set a precedent for robust legislative procedures, allowing for in-depth discussions and fostering greater accountability in the state’s governance. The session is expected to be a significant event in Tripura’s political landscape, marking a shift towards more open and transparent financial deliberations.
