Sending a strong and meaningful message to students and young learners, the Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, M. S. Ramachandra Rao, cautioned against excessive dependence on mobile phones and digital platforms, emphasizing that technology can never replace discipline, dedication and focused effort in achieving academic success.

Justice Rao made the remarks while addressing a felicitation programme organized by Auxilium Girls’ School to honour students who excelled in the CBSE Class X and XII examinations. The event celebrated the achievements of top-performing students and recognized their dedication and hard work.

Addressing students, parents and teachers present at the event, the Chief Justice highlighted growing concerns about the increasing influence of digital devices on the younger generation. He observed that excessive use of mobile phones and prolonged exposure to electronic media can negatively affect students’ concentration, memory retention and learning ability.

He stressed that academic excellence is not achieved through shortcuts or dependence on technology alone. According to him, success is built upon focused study habits, discipline, consistent effort, proper time management and the ability to overcome challenges. He encouraged students to view education as more than simply obtaining high marks, describing it as a process that shapes personality, builds character and prepares individuals for the realities of life.

Sharing a thought-provoking message with students, Justice Rao said, “In school, you’re taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you’re given a test that teaches you a lesson,” emphasizing that genuine learning comes through experiences and perseverance.

The Chief Justice also appealed to parents to avoid placing excessive pressure on children regarding academic performance and examination results. He underlined the importance of providing emotional support and creating a positive and nurturing atmosphere at home that allows students to learn and grow with confidence.

Congratulating the toppers, Justice Rao praised the determination and discipline shown by the students. He also acknowledged the important role played by teachers and parents in guiding and supporting them throughout their educational journey.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of meritorious students for their achievements in various academic fields.
