Udaipur, July 13 — Tripura took a significant step towards becoming a major spiritual and tourism destination as Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the much-awaited ’51 Shaktipeeth Park’ at Bandoor in Udaipur, Gomati district. The colorful ceremony marked a new chapter in the state’s cultural and religious tourism journey.

The project, initiated by the Tripura Tourism Department, will be developed at a cost of ₹97.70 crore. It aims to recreate symbolic replicas of the 51 sacred Shaktipeeths spread across India, believed to have formed where parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell, according to Hindu mythology. The park promises to become a unique spiritual destination in Northeast India.

Joining the Chief Minister at the event were Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLAs Abhishek Debroy, Ram Pada Jamatia, Jitendra Majumder, Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Deb Roy, and other senior officials from the tourism department and district administration.

The project will also include Tripura’s first-ever glass skywalk bridge, one of the largest Nataraj statues in the country, a 400-seat amphitheater, and modern amenities for tourists and pilgrims. The aim is to create a holistic spiritual and aesthetic experience.

In his speech, CM Saha highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding tourism—both spiritual and adventure-based—as a key driver of economic growth. “The 51 Shaktipeeth Park will not only promote Tripura’s spiritual heritage but also boost the local economy through direct and indirect employment,” he said.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the park’s cultural significance and its potential to uplift local communities. The event witnessed a massive turnout, reflecting public enthusiasm for this landmark project that is set to redefine Tripura’s place on India’s spiritual tourism map.
