Agartala, July 21: The Tripura Pradesh Congress has announced a two-hour symbolic blockade of alternative national highways at four locations across the state on July 23, protesting the recurring incidents of question paper leaks in competitive examinations and demanding stronger intervention from the Central government to curb the menace.

The announcement was made on Tuesday during a press conference at the Tripura Pradesh Congress Bhavan in Agartala by AICC member Bijendra Prasad Singh. He said the protest is aimed at highlighting the growing concerns of students and job aspirants whose careers have been adversely affected by repeated examination irregularities.

Singh alleged that 152 question paper leak incidents had taken place across the country over the past 12 years, claiming that a significant number of these cases were reported from BJP-ruled states. According to him, the repeated leaks have undermined the credibility of competitive examinations and shattered the aspirations of lakhs of young candidates preparing for government jobs and higher education.

“The future of countless students has been put at risk due to repeated examination paper leaks. Despite the seriousness of the issue, the Centre has failed to take effective measures to stop such incidents,” Singh alleged.

The Congress leader said the party has been consistently raising the issue both inside and outside Parliament, demanding strict action against those responsible for examination malpractices and stronger safeguards to ensure transparency in recruitment and entrance examinations.

He further stated that Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has expressed solidarity with students and unemployed youth affected by paper leak incidents across the country. Singh said the Congress leadership has also appointed coordinators in different states to strengthen the campaign and create public awareness about the issue.

The symbolic highway blockade, he said, is intended to send a strong message to the Central government while remaining peaceful and democratic. Party leaders urged students, youth and citizens to support the agitation in defence of fair and transparent recruitment processes.

The protest is expected to be held simultaneously at four designated locations along alternative national highway routes in Tripura. The Congress maintained that the movement seeks accountability, timely reforms in the examination system, and justice for the lakhs of aspirants whose dreams have been affected by recurring paper leak controversies.
