Agartala: August 01: Reaffirming the Tripura government’s commitment to bolstering the state’s healthcare ecosystem, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy emphasized the administration’s focused efforts to retain nursing professionals within the state by creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Speaking at the second foundation day celebration of the Agartala Government Nursing College, held at the Florence Nightingale Auditorium in the IGM Hospital Complex, Minister Singha Roy credited Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s leadership for driving widespread reforms in the health sector. He noted that significant advancements have taken place at both major referral hospitals and grassroots healthcare facilities such as district and sub-divisional centers.

“One of the most urgent challenges we face is the outmigration of qualified nurses,” the minister stated. “We are taking concrete steps to ensure that nursing graduates can build fulfilling careers right here in Tripura.”

He highlighted the government’s integrated approach, combining infrastructure development, policy reform, and strategic recruitment to create new job avenues in the state. “Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, and we are committed to giving them the opportunities they deserve without having to leave their home state,” Singha Roy added.

The minister also lauded the dedication and resilience of the nursing community, recognizing their vital role in providing round-the-clock care to patients, especially in underserved regions.

Health Secretary Kiran Gitte and other dignitaries were also present at the event, which marked not just a milestone for the nursing college, but a broader shift in the state’s healthcare planning.
