Agartala, July 16: In a major boost to the education sector, the Tripura government has announced the recruitment of 1,615 new teachers to address the ongoing shortage of teaching staff across government schools in the state. The move aims to improve the quality of education and ensure better access to learning, especially in remote and underserved areas.

BJP State Spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty welcomed the decision during a press conference held on Tuesday. He hailed the recruitment as a “historic step” under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and said it reflects the government’s continued commitment to educational and infrastructural development.

“The BJP government, led by Dr. Saha, is taking revolutionary steps to uplift the education system and improve lives in even the remotest parts of Tripura,” said Chakraborty.

He also responded to opposition criticism over teacher shortages in schools, saying that the government has already conducted several recruitment drives to tackle the issue. “While the opposition continues to allege a crisis, they deliberately overlook the transparent and continuous efforts being made. The recruitment of 1,615 teachers is part of a broader strategy to resolve such challenges,” he said.

Chakraborty emphasized that the BJP-led state government is taking public interest decisions across all departments, with multiple phases of recruitment being carried out in recent months. He reiterated that the current recruitment reflects a long-term vision to transform the state’s education system.

The announcement comes as part of Tripura’s larger initiative to improve governance and service delivery, with education remaining a top priority. By filling these teaching vacancies, the government hopes to ensure that students across the state receive quality education without disruption, thereby contributing to Tripura’s overall development trajectory.
