Agartala, Nov 6: The National Health Mission (NHM) under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, in collaboration with FOGSI (Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India) and JHPIEGO, organized a comprehensive two-day training program for Medical Officers and Nursing Officers on Pre-Conceptional Care, Anemia, Post-Partum Hemorrhage (PPH), and Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy. The training was held on November 5 and 6 in Agartala.

The program was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar, President of FOGSI India, in the presence of several eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Priti Kumar, Vice President of FOGSI India; Dr. Soubhik Debbarma, Director of Health Services (DHS); Dr. Nupur Debbarma, Mission Director, NHM; Dr. Jayanta Ray, HOD, OBG, AGMC; Dr. Bappaditya Som, HOD, OBG, TMC; and Dr. J. L. Baidya, Professor, OBG, along with other senior officials and medical professionals from within and outside the state.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tandulwadkar emphasized the critical importance of early and comprehensive maternal care in reducing maternal mortality. She reaffirmed FOGSI’s commitment to extending continuous technical and clinical support to Tripura through the Sampoorna Tripura Mission, a state-led initiative aimed at reducing the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) to single digits.

The sessions during the two-day program covered key aspects of maternal healthcare, including anemia management, early detection and control of hypertensive disorders, and life-saving measures to manage post-partum hemorrhage.

Officials noted that such capacity-building programs play a vital role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of healthcare professionals, thereby improving the quality of maternal and reproductive health services across Tripura.

The event concluded with a pledge to sustain collaborative efforts to ensure safe motherhood and healthier futures for women in the state.
