Agartala: In a major step towards technology-driven educational governance, the Tripura School Education Department has launched a comprehensive Online School Inspection and Continuous Student Assessment System to strengthen monitoring of schools and improve learning outcomes across the state.

The initiative, conceptualised under the guidance of Dr. Milind Ramteke, IAS, Secretary, School Education Department, and spearheaded by Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, Director of Elementary Education, Director of Secondary Education and State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, aims to establish a transparent, accountable and evidence-based mechanism for academic supervision, particularly at the foundational and primary education levels.

The digital platform has been integrated with the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), enabling education administrators to monitor school inspections and student learning through a live dashboard. Officials at the state, district and block levels will have access to real-time data to track institutional performance, identify learning gaps and initiate timely academic interventions. District Magistrates of all eight districts will also be provided access to the dashboard to facilitate prompt administrative action wherever required.

To ensure effective implementation, the department has scheduled a virtual hands-on training programme for District Education Officers (DEOs), District MIS Coordinators and NIPUN Coordinators. Earlier in June, the NIPUN Cell of the Directorate of Elementary Education organised extensive training for Block Resource Persons (BRPs), Cluster Resource Persons (CRPs) and Inspectors of Schools on the online inspection and assessment modules. These officials are now leading the rollout across schools.

The system introduces a strong accountability framework by digitally tracking the quality and frequency of school inspections conducted by BRPs and CRPs. Officials demonstrating outstanding performance are proposed to be recognised, while those requiring improvement will receive mentoring and counselling.

The Continuous Student Assessment module will provide teachers and administrators with timely information on students’ academic progress, enabling targeted support for children facing learning difficulties. Where learning outcomes remain consistently below expected levels, the department may recommend need-based professional development programmes through SCERT for the concerned teachers.

Officials believe the technology-enabled ecosystem will strengthen classroom practices, promote evidence-based planning and improve institutional accountability. The initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to digital governance and outcome-based educational reforms, with the ultimate goal of ensuring quality learning opportunities for every child in Tripura. Under the leadership of Dr. Milind Ramteke and Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, the department expects the initiative to significantly improve foundational learning outcomes across the state.
