The Tripura Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a young woman who was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Shantiniketan Medical College in Agartala earlier this week. The decision comes amid growing public concern and demands for a thorough investigation into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Manisha Das (24), was a resident of Kathaltali in the Madhuban area. She was found dead on the premises of Shantiniketan Medical College on June 10, prompting questions over the circumstances leading to her death.
According to an official order issued by the state government, Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura district, has been entrusted with conducting the magisterial inquiry. The inquiry has been tasked with examining all aspects of the case, including the sequence of events preceding the incident and any other relevant factors that may help establish the facts.
The government has directed the District Magistrate to conduct a comprehensive investigation and submit a detailed report to the Home Department within 15 days from the date of issuance of the order.
Officials said the inquiry will involve the collection of evidence, examination of records, and recording of statements from individuals connected to the case. The findings are expected to provide clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding Manisha Das’s death.
The incident has generated widespread attention, with family members and local residents seeking answers and calling for a transparent probe. The magisterial inquiry is expected to run parallel to any ongoing police investigation and will independently assess the facts and circumstances of the case.
Authorities have assured that all relevant aspects will be thoroughly examined and that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry. The government’s move to order a magisterial probe is being viewed as an effort to ensure transparency and address public concerns surrounding the incident.
