Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Saturday that Tripura has received Rs. 157 crore from the 15th Finance Commission for the financial year 2024-25. Speaking at the state-level National Panchayati Raj Day event held at A.D. Nagar, Agartala, Dr. Saha stated that the funds have been allocated across different levels, including panchayats and village councils.

During the event, the Chief Minister declared all Panchayats in Tripura as disability-friendly and unveiled two publications—the monthly newsletter *Gram Srijan* and the annual report of the Panchayat department. He emphasized the state’s commitment to advancing rural development as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.

Highlighting key government initiatives, Dr. Saha underscored the role of the Panchayati Raj system in rural empowerment, noting that various national-level awards reflect the effectiveness of the state’s efforts. He cited infrastructural developments, including the establishment of 44 new Panchayat Bhavans, four District Panchayat Resource Centres, and eight Panchayat Learning Centres in the past two years. Additionally, he announced an initiative to upgrade 25 institutions, including 15 panchayats, to ISO standards.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Panchayat Department Secretary Abhishek Singh, chairpersons of all eight district councils, and Professor Nalini Prabha Tripathi, Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong.

A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Panchayat department and IIM Shillong to facilitate advanced training initiatives. The collaboration was praised for its innovative approach to capacity-building.

To recognize excellence in rural governance, awards were presented across various categories, celebrating achievements in Panchayati Raj administration.
