Agartala, May 29: The Tripura government on Friday announced elaborate security and administrative arrangements for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on June 21, while simultaneously launching the online admission process for undergraduate courses in government degree colleges across the state.

Addressing a press conference at the Civil Secretariat in Agartala, Special Secretary of Higher Education Raval Hemendra Kumar said the NEET-UG re-examination would be conducted under strict monitoring with multi-layer security arrangements to ensure transparency and fairness.

According to officials, 10 examination centres have been set up across the state, including nine centres in West Tripura district and one at Kamalpur Government Degree College and Higher Secondary School in Dhalai district.

Around 4,700 candidates are expected to appear for the examination, with nearly 4,500 candidates in West Tripura district and around 200 candidates at the Kamalpur centre.

Kumar said the Higher Education Department, National Testing Agency (NTA), district administration and Tripura Police are jointly coordinating preparations for the smooth conduct of the examination. He informed that both State-Level and District-Level Coordination Committees have already been formed in accordance with NTA guidelines.

The examination centres in West Tripura include MBB College, BBM College, Kendriya Vidyalaya Kunjaban, Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Agartala, Hindi Higher Secondary School, Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School, Shishu Bihar School, Tripura University and NIT Agartala.

He further stated that all centres have undergone verification and security assessment before finalisation and only government institutions, including NIT Agartala and ICFAI University, have been selected as venues.

A dual-layer frisking system will be implemented at all centres. Tripura Police personnel will conduct initial screening outside examination venues, while NTA teams will carry out additional verification inside the centres. All examination halls will remain under CCTV surveillance and live monitoring.

Meanwhile, Director of Higher Education Animesh Debbarma announced that online admissions for undergraduate courses in 29 government degree colleges have started through the SAMARTH portal and will continue till June 7 midnight.

He said the total intake capacity in government colleges and teacher education institutes has increased to 32,159 seats this year. Debbarma also announced the introduction of a new B.Sc Computer Science programme at IASE Kunjaban under NEP 2020 guidelines.
