Agartala/New Delhi, Oct 7: In a proud moment for Tripura, Shyamal Dey, NSS Programme Officer of Bani Vidyapith Higher Secondary Girls’ School, and Anupam Das, NSS volunteer from Ramthakur College, have been honoured with the prestigious 2022–23 MY Bharat NSS Award. The award was presented by President Droupadi Murmu during a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Monday.

The recognition celebrates their outstanding contribution to community service and social welfare under the National Service Scheme (NSS). Under their leadership, NSS volunteers carried out a series of impactful initiatives, including the plantation of 1,125 trees, blood donation drives collecting 51 units of blood, and multiple health and environmental awareness programmes.

Their efforts extended to organising Pulse Polio campaigns, voter education drives, and digital literacy initiatives aimed at promoting the Cashless India movement. Both Dey and Das have been widely acknowledged for their leadership, dedication, and tireless commitment to public welfare and youth empowerment.

Tripura’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tinku Roy, congratulated the awardees through a social media post, calling their achievement “a symbol of pride not just for the individuals but for the entire state of Tripura.” He commended their exemplary service and humanitarian spirit, saying their work reflects the true essence of volunteerism and the power of youth-driven social change.

The MY Bharat NSS Awards, instituted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, recognise individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to community service, leadership, and nation-building. The achievement of Dey and Das has brought national recognition to Tripura’s vibrant NSS movement and inspired thousands of young volunteers across the state to continue serving society with dedication and compassion.
