Agartala: The investigation into the death of delivery boy Prasenjit Sarkar has made significant progress with the arrest of two more accused persons, police said on Saturday. With these latest arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody in connection with the case has risen to five.

According to police sources, the two remaining accused were arrested from areas under Churaibari police station following sustained efforts by the investigating team. The arrests were made in connection with Dharmanagar Police Station case number 2025DMN122, dated December 14, 2025. The accused have been booked under Sections 329(4), 115(2), 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The arrested persons have been identified as Meghdeep Bhattacharjee (24), a resident of Madhya Naya Para in Dharmanagar, and Piyu Dhar (22). Police said both accused were produced before the court on Saturday, following which they were remanded to judicial custody.

Officials stated that Prasenjit Sarkar, who was working as a delivery boy, had died under suspicious circumstances, triggering widespread concern and demands for strict action against those involved. Acting swiftly after the incident, police had earlier arrested three accused persons linked to the case.

With the arrest of the remaining two suspects, investigators believe that all individuals directly involved in the incident are now in custody. Police officials said the arrests mark a crucial step in ensuring a thorough and impartial investigation and in delivering justice to the victim and his family.

The police further informed that the investigation is continuing to establish the exact sequence of events that led to the death of the delivery boy. Statements of witnesses are being recorded, and other legal procedures are underway to strengthen the case.

Senior officials reiterated that no one involved in the crime would be spared and that strict action would be taken in accordance with the law. The case has drawn considerable public attention, and the police have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure accountability and uphold the rule of law.
