Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, visited the historic Tripura Sundari Temple at Matabari in Udaipur on Friday evening around 8 PM, where he reviewed the progress of the centrally sponsored PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) project aimed at strengthening religious tourism infrastructure in Tripura.
Elaborate security and administrative arrangements were made in view of the Union Minister’s visit. Upon his arrival at the temple premises, Scindia was accorded a warm reception by State Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Jitendra Majumder, along with senior BJP leaders, officials from the district administration, and temple authorities.
The Union Minister first offered prayers at the revered Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and a major pilgrimage destination in the region. He later visited the adjacent Shiva temple, where special rituals were performed. During the religious observances, Scindia prayed for peace, prosperity, and overall development of Tripura and its people.
After the temple visit, the Union Minister held discussions with officials of the Tripura Tourism Department regarding the implementation of the PRASAD project, which was inaugurated earlier by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Officials briefed him on the current progress of the project, ongoing infrastructure development works, management plans, and future expansion proposals. The PRASAD project is being implemented jointly by the central and state governments with the objective of upgrading amenities for pilgrims, improving accessibility, and enhancing the overall spiritual and tourism experience.
Officials and local stakeholders expressed optimism that Scindia’s visit would provide fresh momentum to the project and help address any pending issues related to its execution. The development initiative is expected to significantly boost religious tourism around the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, attract a larger number of pilgrims and tourists from across the country, and contribute to the state’s cultural visibility and economic growth in the coming years.
