Agartala: Jan 31: The family of Haimanti Sinha Barman, a teacher from Melaghar, has approached the Tripura Human Rights Commission seeking a proper investigation into the tragic and mysterious death of the teacher. Haimanti’s family is demanding that the main accused, her husband Mrinal Kanti Barman, be arrested immediately, along with the other individuals involved in the alleged crime.

According to the family, Haimanti was brutally murdered, and they allege that she was set on fire by her in-laws, with her husband being the principal perpetrator. Haimanti’s death has raised serious concerns, as her children and her sister have expressed their belief that the incident was not an accident but a deliberate act of violence. Despite their allegations, the police investigation has thus far led to the arrest of only one person, and the main accused, Mrinal Kanti Barman, remains at large.

The family’s dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation by the Melaghar police has prompted them to escalate the matter by filing a formal complaint with the Tripura Human Rights Commission. The family was accompanied by Haimanti’s teenage daughter and infant son during their visit to the Commission, underscoring the emotional gravity of the situation. They are urging the authorities to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation into the case, demanding justice for Haimanti and holding those responsible for her death accountable.

The case has highlighted concerns over the adequacy of the police response and has drawn attention to the need for more rigorous investigations in cases of suspected domestic violence and murder. The family’s plea to the Human Rights Commission reflects their hope that justice will prevail and the truth behind Haimanti’s death will be uncovered.
