Sonamura, Oct 28: In a major breakthrough amid the ongoing crackdown on narcotics across the state, the Yatrpur Police have set a new example of success by recovering a large quantity of illegal drugs from the Nidoya Gangkul area under their jurisdiction.

Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, a team from Yatrpur Police Station conducted a raid at the residence of Kamrul Mia, son of Farid Mia. During the search, police seized 1,500 Yaba tablets, estimated to be worth around ₹75,000 in the illegal market. The recovered narcotics, weighing a total of 162 grams, were packed in 10 separate packets, officials confirmed.

Following the recovery, police arrested Farid Mia, aged about 28 years, from the spot. Preliminary investigation suggests that the seized contraband was intended for distribution within nearby areas.

Speaking about the operation, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Siti Kant Bardan stated that the anti-narcotics campaign would continue with equal intensity in the coming days. “The police remain committed to eradicating drugs from society. Our operations will persist until we achieve a drug-free community,” he said.

The successful seizure has created a stir across the region, drawing attention to the growing menace of drug trafficking in rural areas. Local residents praised the police for their prompt and effective action, urging authorities to continue such initiatives to ensure a safer and addiction-free environment.

This latest operation reinforces Tripura Police’s dedication to curbing the spread of narcotics and safeguarding the youth from the grip of addiction.
