Takarjala, May 3: The Youth Tipra Federation (YTF), the youth wing of the ruling BJP alliance partner Tipra Motha party, celebrated its fourth foundation day on Saturday evening with a massive torch rally in the Takarjala Assembly constituency of Sepahijala district. The event served as a powerful reaffirmation of the organization’s core demand for the creation of Greater Tipraland.
Led by YTF president Suraj Debbarma, the rally saw the participation of hundreds of youth supporters, along with local MLA Biswajit Kalai. The torch-bearing procession illuminated the streets of Takarjala market, creating a striking visual symbol of the movement’s growing momentum.
Addressing the media during the rally, Suraj Debbarma stated, “The fire we carry reflects the fire within our heart, mind, and blood. The dream of Greater Tipraland is not just a political slogan but a permanent solution for the future of our people.” He emphasized that the demand for a unified homeland for the indigenous Tiprasa community remains central to achieving socio-political empowerment and sustainable development.
The YTF, under the leadership of Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, has recently become more vocal and active. Just days before the foundation day, the organization staged a protest near the India-Bangladesh border in Belonia, opposing the construction of an embankment by Bangladesh along the zero line. During the demonstration, slogans were raised against Mohammad Yunus, chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, in response to his remarks describing Northeast India as landlocked and advocating increased Chinese investment.
With a steadily expanding base and rising youth engagement, the YTF is positioning itself as a significant force in Tripura’s tribal politics, keeping the demand for Greater Tipraland at the forefront of the state’s political narrative.
