Agartala, June 4: The electoral process for the upcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) took a significant step forward with the publication of the draft electoral roll on Tuesday.
According to official data released along with the draft voter list, a total of 9,60,430 voters have been enrolled across various Village Committees under the TTAADC jurisdiction. The voter population comprises 4,81,471 male voters, 4,78,957 female voters, and 2 voters belonging to the third gender category, reflecting a broad and inclusive electoral base in the tribal council areas.
The publication of the draft electoral roll marks a crucial stage in the election process, enabling eligible voters to verify their names and electoral details before the final voter list is prepared. Election officials said the draft roll has been made available for public scrutiny, allowing residents to check for any discrepancies, omissions, or errors in voter information.
Authorities have urged voters to carefully examine their details and submit claims or objections, if necessary, within the stipulated period. The process is aimed at ensuring transparency, accuracy, and inclusiveness in the preparation of the final electoral roll.
The TTAADC, which administers large tribal-dominated areas of Tripura, conducts Village Committee elections to elect grassroots representatives responsible for local governance and development activities in rural areas under the council’s jurisdiction. These elections are considered important as Village Committees play a vital role in implementing welfare programmes, addressing local issues, and facilitating community participation in governance.
Officials stated that the publication of the draft roll is part of the routine electoral procedure and will be followed by the disposal of claims and objections before the final electoral roll is published. Necessary arrangements have been made to facilitate voter verification and ensure smooth completion of the process.
The sizeable voter base reflected in the draft roll underscores the importance of the forthcoming Village Committee elections and highlights the active participation of residents in the democratic process within the TTAADC areas.
With the release of the draft electoral roll, preparations for the Village Committee polls have gained momentum, setting the stage for the next phase of the electoral exercise. Election authorities have reiterated their commitment to conducting the process in a free, fair, and transparent manner while ensuring maximum voter participation.
