Agartala, July 23: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to improving the quality of life of citizens through modern, technology-driven and easily accessible civic services. Speaking at the inauguration of a series of development projects and citizen-centric initiatives of the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala, the Chief Minister said balanced development of both urban and rural areas remains the cornerstone of Tripura’s overall progress.

Dr. Saha said the government is working to preserve the state’s rich cultural heritage while embracing modern technology to make public services more efficient, transparent and citizen-friendly. He noted that several initiatives are being implemented to transform Agartala into a clean, green, healthy and technology-enabled city that offers better civic amenities to its residents.

Emphasising that development should directly benefit the people, the Chief Minister said the true measure of success of any government project lies in the positive changes experienced by citizens in their daily lives.

“Development can be considered successful only when people themselves experience and acknowledge the positive changes in their everyday lives,” he said.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to public welfare, Dr. Saha said the administration is working tirelessly to accelerate development across Tripura. He also criticised the opposition, alleging that while the government remains focused on delivering development, opposition parties are more engaged in criticism than constructive efforts.

Addressing corporators and elected representatives, the Chief Minister urged them to maintain close contact with the public and respond promptly to people’s grievances. He stressed that sincerity, dedication and consistent service are essential to earning the trust and confidence of citizens.

During the programme, the Agartala Municipal Corporation launched several initiatives aimed at improving civic services. These included the “Sabuj Sena Amar Agartala” mobile application, designed to enhance citizen participation in civic management, and a Mosquito-free Campaign to strengthen public health measures. The Chief Minister also flagged off 51 three-wheeler vehicles to improve waste collection and sanitation services across the city.

Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, AMC officials, corporators and several public representatives attended the event. The initiatives are expected to boost urban infrastructure, sanitation and digital governance while making civic services more accessible to residents.
