Agartala: Feb 07: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) organized a large protest rally in Agartala today, condemning the central government’s policies as anti-labor, anti-farmer, and anti-people. CITU leader Manik Dey criticized the 2025 central budget, calling it a “very bad budget” that neglects the common people and disproportionately benefits the wealthy.

Dey argued that crucial sectors like education, health, labor, and rural development have suffered cuts in funding, while funds are being channeled toward the elite. He also criticized the government’s lack of provisions for the unemployed, stating that the budget fails to create job opportunities, exacerbating the unemployment crisis ¹.

CITU has raised its voice against these policies, condemning the central budget as a harmful and unjust approach to governance. This is not the first time CITU has protested against the central government’s policies. In the past, they have organized protests against alleged financial policies towards Kerala and the destruction of tea gardens and land encroachment in Tripura ² ³.

The protest rally, which started from the party district office at Melarmath, passed through various city roads before gathering for a meeting at Kaman Chaumuhani. CITU’s protest is a call to action, demanding a more people-centric approach to governance that prioritizes the needs of laborers, farmers, and marginalized sections of society.
