Agartala, May 17: The Governor of Tripura has officially appointed senior IPS officer Anurag as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. The appointment comes as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the law enforcement apparatus and ensure efficient policing across Tripura.

Anurag, a 1994-batch IPS officer, brings with him decades of experience in various key positions within the police and security establishment. Known for his disciplined approach and administrative efficiency, he has previously served in different capacities in Tripura and other parts of the country. His appointment as the DGP is expected to add new momentum to the state’s police administration.

The Governor’s decision to appoint Anurag was based on recommendations made by the state government and in line with the established procedures. The appointment has been welcomed by various quarters of the administration, who believe that his leadership will strengthen internal security, improve coordination among various departments, and enhance public trust in the police force.

Soon after the announcement, senior officials of the state police headquarters congratulated Anurag on his new role and assured their full cooperation in maintaining law and order across the state. With Tripura facing evolving challenges related to security and public safety, Anurag’s experience is expected to be instrumental in modernizing the force and implementing people-centric policing.

An official joining ceremony is expected to take place shortly, where Anurag will formally assume charge as the state’s top police officer.
