Bengaluru, July 18: A man from Tripura was arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly using derogatory language against Kannadigas and insulting the state of Karnataka. The incident came to light after the accused reportedly made offensive remarks to a delivery executive, sparking outrage and prompting legal action.

According to police sources, the accused, who has been residing in Bengaluru, allegedly insulted the delivery executive during an altercation over a service-related issue. The argument reportedly escalated, during which the man used abusive language directed at Kannada-speaking people and made disrespectful comments about the state.

The incident quickly went viral after a video of the altercation surfaced on social media, drawing widespread condemnation from users across Karnataka. Many demanded strict action against the man for hurting regional sentiments and showing intolerance towards the local culture and language.

Following a formal complaint, Bengaluru police launched an investigation and identified the accused. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for promoting enmity and using abusive language with intent to provoke.

Authorities confirmed that the man is being interrogated and that a detailed inquiry is underway. Legal proceedings will follow based on the outcome of the investigation.

Local activists and political leaders also reacted to the incident, emphasizing the importance of respecting regional identities and promoting harmony in a diverse country like India. “No one has the right to insult a language or community. Such behavior will not be tolerated,” said one local leader.

The Bengaluru police urged residents and newcomers alike to maintain mutual respect and abide by the law. They also warned that any form of hate speech or discriminatory behavior would be dealt with strictly.

This incident has reignited discussions around regional sensitivity and the need for cultural understanding in India’s rapidly urbanizing and diverse metro cities.
