Agartala, Sept 23:
In a festive bonanza ahead of Durga Puja, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday announced a 3 percent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners. The revision will take effect from October 1, 2025.
Dr. Saha made the announcement during his concluding address on the final day of the eighth session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly. At around 9:30 p.m., he declared the long-anticipated hike, fulfilling the expectations of thousands of employees and pensioners across the state.
The Chief Minister informed the House that the decision would benefit 1,05,739 employees and 84,342 pensioners. To implement the revision, the government will require an additional expenditure of approximately Rs. 125 crore.
Highlighting the government’s commitment, Dr. Saha said that since the formation of the BJP-led administration in Tripura, DA and DR have been revised multiple times to gradually bridge the gap with the Centre’s rates. “Previously, the present government announced 33 percent DA/DR, of which 30 percent was declared during my tenure. With this latest revision, the DA has now reached 36 percent,” he said.
Apart from the financial announcement, the Chief Minister also participated in discussions on several welfare-related issues during the session. He expressed satisfaction over the smooth functioning of the Assembly and extended his gratitude to all members for their cooperation in ensuring meaningful deliberations.
Before the House was adjourned sine-die, Dr. Saha conveyed his greetings on the occasion of Durga Puja. He wished the people of Tripura peace, prosperity, and continued progress, reaffirming his government’s focus on public welfare and inclusive development.
