A statue in honour of CRPF martyr Sambhu Roy was unveiled on Saturday in Dharmanagar’s Chandrapur area, beside the Apanjan Club, commemorating his bravery and supreme sacrifice. The initiative was taken by the 140th Battalion of the CRPF, and the installation ceremony, conducted at 11:30 AM, was brief yet solemn, reflecting the dignity befitting a national hero.

Sambhu Roy, a dedicated jawan of the CRPF’s 210 Cobra Battalion, joined the force at the age of 25 and actively participated in several anti-Maoist operations over the years. He laid down his life during a mission in the Maoist-affected areas of Chhattisgarh, demonstrating extraordinary courage and commitment to national security. Born on June 18, 1990, he was martyred on April 3, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of valor and patriotism.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, CRPF DIG Itendra Kumar Rajput, Commandant of the 140th Battalion Munna Singh, along with other officials, personnel, and members of the local community. Participants paid heartfelt tributes, remembering Roy’s bravery, dedication, and selfless service to the nation.

Speakers at the event highlighted that the statue would serve as a lasting reminder of Sambhu Roy’s sacrifice and inspire future generations to uphold the values of courage, duty, and patriotism. They emphasized that such initiatives not only honor fallen heroes but also reinforce the importance of service and commitment among the youth.

The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and floral tributes, reflecting the deep respect and admiration for the martyred soldier. The statue installation has been welcomed by locals and CRPF personnel alike, as a symbol of valor and a tribute to the enduring spirit of those who lay down their lives in service of the nation.
