In a significant move aimed at strengthening grassroots support systems, Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, on Wednesday distributed catering utensil sets to 201 beneficiaries under the 20–Killa Bagma District Council Constituency.

The distribution programme was held at Noabari in Killa, covering 18 ADC areas across the constituency. Beneficiaries included paras (hamlets), local community groups, hostels, and churches. The initiative was implemented through the MDC Constituency Development Fund (CDF) with the objective of enhancing social unity and easing logistical challenges faced during community events.

Addressing the media, CEM Jamatia stated that the primary aim of the initiative is to empower communities both socially and economically. He pointed out that many villages face difficulties during social gatherings, festivals, and public functions due to a lack of adequate cooking and catering utensils.

“Through the media, I extend my gratitude to everyone watching. We are distributing catering utensil sets to villages across the Killa Bagma ADC constituency. Around 201 paras, groups, and churches are being covered. The main objective is to strengthen social unity. Many villages struggle during social programmes and festivals because of insufficient cooking materials. Therefore, we felt it was necessary to provide kitchen sets,” he said.

He further noted that several families in the region are economically disadvantaged and often cannot afford to pool funds to purchase such equipment. Utilizing the MDC CDF Fund for this purpose ensures that essential support reaches those who need it most.

CEM Jamatia also highlighted that the programme is being carried out under the guidance of royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma, popularly known as Bubagra, with a vision to strengthen grassroots communities and promote inclusive development across ADC areas.

Since assuming office, the TTAADC administration has prioritized reinforcing social structures and improving economic conditions in tribal areas. The distribution drive reflects this broader commitment to community upliftment.

Local beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative. Members of the Killa VC Youth Catering Group said the utensils would not only support social events but also help them generate income through catering services. Residents from various villages, including Pitra under SB Nagar VC, acknowledged that people across communities and political backgrounds have benefited from the programme.

The initiative is expected to foster social cohesion while opening new avenues for youth-led income-generating activities in the region.
